City of York Council are seeking to recruit a Qualified Electrician to work within the Electrical dept. This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and growing team who carry out electrical maintenance, testing and installation across a wide range of properties, from the Councils’ 7800 domestic properties to schools and public buildings.
Successful applicants will have served a recognised Electrical apprenticeship and be qualified to NVQ level 3 and successfully passed AM2 in Electrical installations or equivalent. You must hold BS7671 18th edition wiring regulations & City and Guilds 2391 or equivalent would be desirable.
Applicants must demonstrate a sound Electrical knowledge in all aspects of Electrical installations and testing procedures. Previous experience of Electrical installations, maintenance and repairs in commercial and housing sectors is essential. A full driving licence is essential
The Council operates a 24hr 365 days a year service and the successful applicant will be required undertake call out duties on a 1 week in 4 basis.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
