Working to support adults, and their families, who have complex social needs and are more vulnerable as a result of disability, exclusion, or diminished capacity, you'll maximise their potential to live independently.

You will assess social care needs using a person centred and strengths-based approach and contribute to the development of care and support plans. The role will require you to manage a caseload, including assessment of risk through direct work, within a quality assurance process. A focus of the role will be to ensure vulnerable people are safeguarded in line with ECC's statutory obligations.

This Community Support Worker opportunity sits in our Physical and Sensory Impairments Team covering the Colchester and Tendring district areas. Experience of working with adults who have physical and/or sensory difficulties would be an advantage.

The team are currently remote working due to COVID, but the role would usually be a mix of office and home based. We have offices in Colchester and Clacton and your base will be office closest to your home.

About You

You'll bring a strong ability to build effective relationships with adults and their families in times of challenge and crisis. You will have the drive and passion to want to make a difference, and a willingness to learn. Ideally you will have some experience of activity-based work with adults and some knowledge of legislative and policy guidance applicable within social care settings.

This role involves travelling around Essex. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential.

All candidates applying to Adult Social Care will be expected to join on a 12-week rota. This team are currently working full-time compressed hours across 4 days per week, working one Saturday every six weeks. This working pattern is being reviewed and may change from September 2021.
