Come help design the Digital Future for the citizens of Brent

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

At Brent we recognise the value of digital in enhancing the lives of our citizens, our co-workers and businesses operating within the Borough. The pandemic has accelerated the pace of change to our digital first future and given us laser sharp focus on delivering outstanding digital services for Brent.

This leadership role will manage a multidisciplinary team to deliver software development; new digital products and digital projects across the council. The role will be directly responsible for the digital development resource for the council.

The role will also been seen by the council’s Directors, Members and Heads of Services as a trusted advisor on how digital can deliver the objectives of the council.

The Person

We are looking for a SCRUM Master or experienced agile development leader who can instil a DEVOPS approach into the development and operational teams of the council.

The right person will show they have their finger on the pulse of digital technologies and how they are being deployed across local government. They will demonstrate a proficiency in understanding of IT infrastructure, applications and service pertinent to our organisation. You will have the know-how of how to successfully test and deploy error free software.

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver within a local authority or similar large complex IT support for an organisation. Given this, we require someone with a structured approach to their work deploying frameworks and methodologies. They will also need the political nous to evangelise the benefits of their work and win the hearts and minds of their stakeholders to gain their support and adoption of ideas.

Closing Date:  04 July 2021 (23:00)
