£49,810-£56,690 p.a. inc. of London Weighting. The post also attracts a Market Forces Supplement of £9480 p.a. which can be withdrawn or reduced at any time.  Appointment will be on the basis of experience and skills demonstrated in relevant fields.

The City of London Corporation is the local authority for the "Square Mile". It is committed to the support of the City as a pre-eminent international financial and business centre and as a pleasant and vibrant place to work, live and relax. The City Corporation offers the normal array of local government services, as well as managing and funding a number of world-renowned educational and cultural institutions, working wholesale markets and some of London's most important open spaces, including Hampstead Heath and Epping Forest.

There is a vacancy in the Public and Corporate Law Division. The work of the Division is very varied and includes local authority, administrative and constitutional law, planning and highways law, charities and trust law, ecclesiastical law, company law, information law, and the law relating to open spaces. It also includes the provision of legal advice to external organisations, including London Councils.

The successful applicant will be a qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive with significant post-qualification experience of dealing with complex legal issues in three or more of the above areas, together with a willingness to acquire expertise in other areas. The successful applicant will also be computer literate, have excellent research, analytical and communication skills, and the ability to provide clear and pragmatic advice to tight timescales (including orally to large groups).
