The Post

Your role will be ensuring that all Council Tax is billed, collected and recovered in accordance with legislation, case law, local policy and procedures. You will work with customers to resolve enquiries about the administration, billing and recovery of Council Tax working to high quality and maximising collection and recovery of council tax. 

The recovery of all debts should be done in an efficient and objective manner, taking account of customers’ individual circumstances and ability to pay but at the same time paying absolute attention to the financial interests of the Council in terms of maximising collection. The role is about ensuring that all Council Tax cases progress through the recovery processes to maximise in-year collections and minimise arrears outstanding for previous years.

The Person

Ideal candidates will have positive can-do attitudes along with experience of dealing with customers or demonstrable skills to do so. Candidates will possess the ability to understand the needs of a diverse range of customers, and a commitment to securing the best possible outcomes for them along with the ability to effectively use a range of IT systems and applications. Candidates will also possess excellent interpersonal skills and good problem-solving skills along with the ability to make sound judgements and decisions under pressure. Ideal candidates will be those who work flexibly whilst also working effectively as part of a team to achieve collective goals.
