Job Details
Royal Greenwich is proud to be a borough synonymous with first class modern services. A world heritage site, our communities are vibrant and diverse, and we pride ourselves on being a well-managed and well-run authority.
We have also recently published our first digital strategy. To make that strategy into a reality, we need to hire a new digital, data and technology team to join our existing skill set.
The infrastructure team will be pivotal to our ambitions to move to the cloud, use new platforms to help our staff and residents more easily use services, and strengthen our approach to security and resilience. As infrastructure engineer, you’ll be taking a key role in this new world.
You’ll be building, testing and monitoring our networks, our on-prem and cloud infrastructure. You’ll solve complex problems and figure out how to make our platforms better and easier to use. You may be undertaking database administration, and you’ll definitely be making sure we have the best possible user experience by keeping services highly available and resilient. You’ll be configuring, document and support our services.
You’ll be passionate about technology and offering a great user experience. You will take pride in providing highly available stable services to allow users to perform their role uninterrupted. You will stay up to date with emerging technologies within public cloud and infrastructure. You will help to evaluate new technologies and support delivery, adoption and ongoing operational support.
You will be motivated and confident, with the ability to present your ideas or training in person to a variety of audiences. You should be a completer/finisher who wants to see multiple tasks through to the end. You’ll be happy to do some on-call work out of hours, for which you’ll be paid. You may have a specialism within infrastructure, which is fine and we welcome that. We’re looking for people who have established a career in infrastructure and are looking to take the next step.
During the current Covid-19 response you will be working mainly at home; when the pandemic has abated you’ll be working a mixture of home-based and office-based, with some work at remote locations to install equipment and provide infrastructure support.
This is a great role in a vibrant and growing team; we’re looking for people who have some experience in infrastructure engineering or similar role. In return, we offer a range of benefits which include:
Annual Season Ticket Loan
Childcare Voucher Scheme
Learning and development opportunities to maximise your potential, including excellent apprenticeship opportunities at all levels
Reduced rate Gym Membership
Eyecare Vouchers
Cycle to Work scheme
Long Service Awards
Generous Annual Leave entitlement and
Excellent Pension Scheme
GreenwichCard which entitles you to discounts at local businesses
Employee Assistance Scheme including external counselling service
A range of flexible working arrangements
Staff networks
