Are you a qualified Interpreter, Translator?

Do you have experience of working as an Interpreter or Translator?

At the moment we have gaps in a few languages:

Arabic, Bulgarian, Gujarati, Hungarian, Krio, Kurdish, Lingala, Luganda, Oromo,  Soninke, Somali, Tamil,  Tigrinian, Turkish  and Vietnamese.

The Royal Greenwich Interpreting Service (RGIS) provides face to face language interpreters, British sign language (BSL) interpreters and the translation of documents as required to enable residents to access local health services and services provided by the Council.

The RGIS is a confidential service that can help to ensure that non-English speaking clients and patients receive equal access to council services and local health services. RGIS aims to provide interpreting and translation in most languages taking into accounts the local population demographics. We are covering as many as 102 languages spoken in the borough.

The candidate

The successful candidate will have considerable amount of experience in public service interpreting and translation. A recognised qualification in Interpreting and Translation to a minimum level of Community Interpreting level 3.

Experience of working with health or social care professionals is desirable and other areas of expertise such as medical and legal interpreting are certainly an advantage.

This is an open advertisement and interviews will be held at regular times throughout the year.
