Recognised as the Birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, The Ironbridge Gorge was one of the UK’s first designated World Heritage Sites.

For centuries, the various communities within the Ironbridge Gorge have helped to shape the area’s unique history and character. Countless generations have each made their own mark on the Gorge making the World Heritage Site what it is today - a vibrant and thriving community, as a place to live, work and visit.

Telford & Wrekin Council, as the Statutory Local Authority for the World Heritage Site is seeking to appoint a dedicated World Heritage Site Coordinator to lead and manage the World Heritage Site.

You will be enthusiastic and engaging, working with a variety of stakeholders to promote and protect the World Heritage Site, driving engagement, understanding and safeguarding the World Heritage Site Providing strategic and technical advice you will be managing the delivery of the adopted World Heritage Site Management Plan and the action plan, leading on all reviews as necessary for the adoption by all bodies including UNESCO.

With your passion and experience you will identify and seek external funding opportunities, alongside our partners, and lead in the delivery of projects across the World Heritage Site.

You will use your flair and imagination to market and promote the World Heritage Site, working alongside other service areas, and partners to support events and activities in the World Heritage Site.

With opportunities to engage with other World Heritage Sites across the UK to drive innovation and deploy best practice, this role will bring opportunity to travel, research and enrich your own skills and development.
The postholder:

Will provide and coordinate the management of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site (WHS), working with all stakeholders to sustain the recognised Outstanding Universal Value.

Will provide and coordinate strategic and technical advice to WHS Stakeholders, in addition to managing the delivery of the adopted WHS Management Plan action plan, and leading any review as necessary for adoption by all bodies including UNESCO.

Will also lead on the preparation of Heritage Lottery and other Funding bids, and work with partners to raise support for the WHS.
The Postholder will require -

Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as Sustainable / Cultural Heritage, Conservation, Planning, Architecture,
Post graduate degree in World Heritage Studies desired
A relevant professional accreditation of a conservation body ie. Full Membership of the IHBC required

Proven experience of -
Partnership working, including managing partnership structures and coordinating varied contributions
Project and financial management and delivery
Identifying and making grant funding applications; Business development , fundraising and marketing

Be IT literate -experience of Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, GIS
Have excellent organisational skills with an ability to prioritise and manage a complex workload
Be self motivated and focused with an ability to work independently
