Set in the beautiful surroundings of the South Pennines in West Yorkshire, Calderdale is a vibrant metropolitan borough, an active part of Leeds City Region, with strong market towns and amazing heritage assets. We have developed a vision for 2024, 50 years since we were formed as a local authority.

This appointment will play a pivotal role, supporting the Director of this area to drive services forward. The role will provide a strategic approach to our Procurement, Economy & Enterprise, Employment and Skills, Environment and Housing strategies.

This is an important post, reflecting our ambition to tackle climate change, drive forward inclusive growth, housing delivery and external investment into Calderdale. We are a borough of enterprise with resilient and creative businesses, founded on two hundred years of industry, with emerging digital capabilities putting us at the leading edge across all sectors. We have just established a housing delivery vehicle and a formal partnership agreement with our social housing provider enabling a rapid increase in housing supply. We have a string of recent successes in attracting major capital and revenue investment, but we are relentless in our aspiration to play a leading role in Leeds City Region and the North. A dynamic visionary individual who doesn’t accept second best, you will drive further success in inward investment and delivery. You will be a networker, a problem solver with an imagination for what is possible, and the determination to make it happen.

Applications will be considered from proven leaders who can demonstrate an experience of working in a relevant area as well as developing local partnerships. Sound financial management and a relevant degree (or equivalent experience) is essential.
