About Us:

One caseload, so many different kinds of experience

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. We are committed to ensuring our communities can access the support they need, when they need it. By sharing facilities and expertise with Westminster City Council, we’re able to offer joined-up services for children, young people, their families and their carers that are constantly evolving and improving.

Our Disabled Children’s Team is a specialist social work service within Family and Children’s Services. We work with children and young people aged 0 to 18 who are significantly affected by physical and learning disability, autism or chronic ill-health. We have a close working relationship with the nearby specialist children’s centre. This makes us a well-resourced and supported team.

The Role:

Working alongside social care workers, key workers, occupational therapists and a family therapist, you’ll contribute to the safeguarding and respite needs of disabled children. Involved from referral and assessment to planning and coordinating short breaks and play provision, you’ll build lasting relationships with children and their families, and will gain exposure to all types of children’s social work within a rich, multidisciplinary context.

Children’s Services within Kensington and Chelsea offers you a unique learning and development opportunity. As well as working on a complex caseload, you’ll gain hands-on experience of systemic family-based social work practice, with the support and input of Systemic Family Therapists.

Please refer to the Job Description  for more information.

About You:

A qualified and registered social worker, you’ll be looking for an opportunity to broaden your experience. You’re likely to bring some experience and understanding of child protection and statutory child care work, as well as a good knowledge of children’s physical and emotional development. Highly organised and able to work under pressure, you’ll be an excellent communicator, who is keen to make the most of this learning opportunity.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s will not be considered for this role.
