Please note, this role is a Fixed Term Contract until the end of March 2022.

We'll give you the tools and resources you need to enable vulnerable adults to live healthily and independently, and, as you continue to grow your expertise, you'll play a key role in the development of our Centralised Safeguarding Triage team.

We are currently offering Social Workers the opportunity to be part of a new Safeguarding Triage team service, whose focus will be on triaging and managing all new safeguarding concerns referred into Adult Social Care. This is a new innovative approach for Essex County Council and the successful applicants will be part of a team that will shape how we ensure safeguarding is made personal when applying Care Act thresholds.

About the role

The role and function of this team will support effective decision making to ensure section 42 enquiries are progressed appropriately. There will be strong links with all quadrants as section 42 enquiries will remain their responsibility, so there is an opportunity to build strong networks in all areas.

The position will be home and office based however, there will be opportunities to visits adults as part of triaging the safeguarding concerns based on levels of risk and communication. This service will also offer a consistent approach to triaging and the progression of enquiries which will provide Adult Social Care with more accurate information about safeguarding data.

About You

To apply you should be a qualified social worker with a current Social Work England registration. You'll bring at least 1 year's social work experience, evidence of continuing professional development, and capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards.

This role involves travelling around Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings - sometimes in an emergency. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential.

As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service.

This position will initially, in line with current government guidance, be based from home. However, when government guidelines change going forward this role will work in a hybrid way, with an expectation that there will be a mix of days in the office and working from home/alternative locations.
