Job Purpose

Children and Families service is recognised for a culture of working together with partners delivering a range of interventions which build resilience, remove barriers and enable children and young people to look forward to a brighter future.

The young people's adolescent worker will work with young people and their parents who are in need of support or protection and allocated to Family Support & Protection teams. There will be a range of work including working with young people who struggle to manage their behaviour, are at risk of exploitation, struggling with their mental health or having difficulties with their personal/family relationships. The role requires you to build strong relationship with young people and their families, develop a plan of work in consultation with he allocated Social Worker and support the family to work through this plan. Where appropriate this may involved delivering targeted group work activities. Working collaboratively with families and partner agencies to ensure better outcomes for these children.

The young people's project worker will have an awareness of the challenges and issues that can impact on children's behaviour, understanding vulnerabilities and the potential impacts of these, including a knowledge of Child Exploitation. The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships.

About You

You will have a degree or Master's in Social Care and be looking to start a career dealing within Children and Families. You'll bring a positive attitude and willingness to learn and a passion to help others.

The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wider operational area including travelling around the county of Essex and beyond, potentially transporting service users and their belongings in an emergency. As such a driving licence and car or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.
