Fire Safety Operations Manager

Employer
The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea Council
Location
Kensington and Chelsea, London (Greater)
Salary
£68,881 - £79,118 per annum
Closing date
16 Aug 2021

About Us:

Working with our residents to ensure fire safety is a real priority

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. Following the Grenfell tragedy, we have brought our social housing stock back under local authority control, and are now significantly enhancing fire and building safety standards. We’re also working hard to put those standards into practice.

The Role:

Working closely with our local communities – and often in the public eye – you’ll provide assurance that safety is being managed effectively across all of Kensington & Chelsea’s residential properties. Specifically, you will oversee fire safety operations such as risk assessments, fire safety initiatives and remedial works.  And, as an in-house expert on emerging policy issues relating to residential fire safety, including the Hackitt review of high-rise building safety, you will also contribute the development of policy and processes, and instil safety awareness

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

While technical knowledge of fire safety and regulations would be an advantage, your key skills will lie in the area of operations management. Your background could be in the public or the private sector, but you will have good knowledge of building design and construction and will be used to preparing specifications and work designs. A proven ability to manage resources and budgets is essential, as is some experience in achieving regulatory compliance. Ready to manage and motivate a small technical team, you’ll be an excellent communicator and a practised negotiator. The capability to analyse data and prepare reports is important.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s will not be considered for this role.
