Sheffield is a brilliant city – resourceful, inventive, welcoming – a place rooted in its history but ambitious for the future.  We are proud to work for Sheffield: we want to help support its residents, communities and businesses to thrive; to deliver the very best public services that we can; and to lead, with ambition and purpose, a city whose best days are ahead of it.

We have an exciting new opportunity to be a part of the team driving the organisation forward.  Working directly with our new Chief Executive, Kate Josephs, as her Head of Office, you will be at the heart of the organisation, helping Kate and the wider leadership to deliver real change for the people and communities of Sheffield.  You will be resourceful, adaptable and organised, able to spot the big issues; provide authoritative advice and effective support; and with an eye for detail as well.  Highly motivated and skilled in leading projects and teams, you will bring your knowledge and experience to bear on some of the biggest challenges and opportunities we have as a city.  You will be confident in working across different areas of the council’s agenda, adept at working in a political environment, and with the ability to build relationships with partners at national, regional and local level.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.  For an informal discussion about the role please contact James Henderson on 0114 205 3126.

We are committed to fairness and social justice and welcome applications from everyone. We value our diverse workforce and aim to work together to make the most of our differences.  We have under-representation in terms of employees with a disability and from a Black, Asian, or other minority ethnic background and therefore particularly welcome applicants from these communities.

Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.

To apply you can either complete our application form or submit your CV with a supporting statement on your suitability for the role or click apply below.

Closing Date: Tuesday 27th July

Assessment Centre & Interviews will be between 6th – 11th August inclusive

Please note that these dates are only indicative at this stage and could be subject to change.

The closing date is given as a guide. We reserve the right to extend this date if insufficient numbers of suitable applications have been received, however it is strongly advised that you complete and return your application as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
