Chelmsford City Museum is seeking an ambitious Events & Outreach Officer on a full-time basis (37 Hours) working Mon-Fri including Bank Holidays, with occasional evenings and weekends.


Chelmsford City Museum, part of Chelmsford City Culture, has completed a GBP 2.2 million transformation, covering all aspects of the visitor experience. This thrilling transformation will feed into the wider department's work to establish Chelmsford as a cultural hub in the county as well as highlighting the essential place Chelmsford Museum holds within the city.


The Museum is expanding its public programme and event portfolio to include, Museum lates, talks, workshops, curatorial exhibitions and income generating events. In support of this new direction, we are looking for an experienced confident creative individual to work as part of the curatorial & learning team who will be instrumental in delivering the Museums new outreach vision.


The Events & Outreach Officer will play a crucial role in establishing the Museums connectivity with its community. Working in partnership with the Curators, the Museum’s collection will provide the inspiration and stories for you to interpret into an experience. The successful applicant must have the natural ability to identify and communicate with different audiences, seek out new innovative ways to engage with residents across the whole district and put Chelmsford’s Heritage at the heart of our work.


This is an exciting role for an organised individual who can work on their own initiative, can develop strong working relationships with Museum volunteers, is resilient and can demonstrate excellent planning and organisational skills.
