Director of Support and Collections

In this leadership role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a range of core Council services that includes all collection services, benefits, financial assessments, welfare support, homelessness, housing need and internal bailiff delivery.

This is not a traditional role however, with a broad range of services that run across the areas referenced, you will bring together different services, cultures, and ways of working into one team. Together, these services will give you a single view of debt to maximise collections and importantly, the ability deliver meaningful solutions for our communities and maximise resident income, helping them stay in their homes and move onto longer term solutions.

Key to the success of this post will be your ability to develop and implement effective early identification and intervention methods to support our most vulnerable residents. Underpinned with data and insight, you will transform and redesign our services alongside both our internal and external partners to deliver seamless customer service and high levels of satisfaction, whilst maximising all collection activity. You will champion the streamlining of process and embrace innovation that delivers high quality, sustainable services.

This is a big people leadership role where you will harness the expertise, creativity, and knowledge of direct and indirect staff to make a real difference in our borough.

About you

We are looking for an experienced manager that will embrace change and innovation to drive positive outcomes for residents and our communities in a sustainable way. You will have experience managing and leading within a large, complex organisation, be that a local authority or not. Whilst you may have led one or more of the specific services that is within this roles remit, you will demonstrate a relentless drive to deliver excellence customer experience in all that you have done.

You will be a natural collaborator, system leader and outstanding communicator, that is able to build upon our well-established partnerships, ensuring there is collective focus and accountability on delivering positive change and action.

With a thirst for data and an analytical mindset, you will be able to review the impact of improvements and service changes using quantitative and qualitative indicators to measure the performance and devise future strategies.

Ultimately, we are looking for you to seize opportunities and disrupt what is normal, to deliver positive outcomes for those living and working within the borough, ensuring no one is left behind.
