Data Analyst (Social Care Platform Programme)

Fixed Term, 12 months

Full Time

Up to £36,393 per annum

Location: Chelmsford

The Data Analyst role is critical in providing senior leaders and politicians with the information and business intelligence needed for effective leadership, governance and decision making.

This role will be working on the Data Transformation workstream within the Social Care Platform Programme, and will involve working collaboratively with internal customers from Adult Operations, Children and Families, Finance and Corporate Services.

This role will be one of the Subject Matter Experts within the Programme and will be supporting activity relating to development of data reports, data analysis and data cleansing to support the data transformation workstream. Applying technical capabilities in SQL and power BI to help create reports and extract data, converting business requirements to improve data integrity.


About you

As an data analyst, you're the link between data and decision-making. You'll play a critical role in providing senior leaders and team managers with the information and insight needed for effective management of the service and strategic planning. This will involve presenting data and analysis in creative ways to communicate complex messages simply to a range of audiences.

You will work with a wide range of data and evidence sources, applying a performance lens through data visualisation and analytical techniques. Tasks may include; scoping and development of system / reporting requirements; 'deep dive' analyses; mapping; and analysis to help the service plan for the future.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

We're looking for people with recognised technical ability in a range of performance analysis, data visualisation and dashboard creation. You may have relevant qualifications or be qualified by experience - either way, you'll use a variety of tools and methods to make sense of data. But we also need people who can put this across in a way that's compelling and easy to understand - using evidence to tell the story for senior decision-makers and stakeholders.

You will be highly proficient in Excel and PowerBI.

Previous experience of working with social care data/familiarity with social care case management processes is desirable

*This position will initially, in line with current government guidance be based from home, with an expectation of being home based for the foreseeable future. However, if / when government guidelines change the role may then revert to being office based, whilst retaining some flexible working options.
