Due to the introduction of a new Street Works Permit Scheme and the expansion of our service we require a Senior Street Works Co-Ordinator to lead the co-ordination of street and road works across the city.

This is an exciting time to join and lead the Co-Ordination team and to be involved in the introduction and development of the new Permit Scheme and offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to make a difference within our service, gain leadership skills and develop and learn new skills within a Local Authority environment.

You will be responsible for ensuring that works carried out across the city by utility companies and the council’s highways department are done so in a way that minimises disruption and delays for all road users and managing the team who support this work.

Our ideal candidate must have Street Works experience (you may have gained this with another Local Authority or you may have worked for or be working for a utility company) – ideally approx. 5 years, however, we would be willing to discuss this opportunity further if you have less experience but feel that you could rise to the challenge of this role.

You should be able to demonstrate the ability to resolve problematic queries and deal with complaints using your excellent negotiation skills and have evidence of being able to communicate at all levels with a variety of different stakeholders.

Working arrangements may be varied and you could be working from our award winning city centre offices, be based at home or attend meetings on site. As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly, only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
