Are you tired of “overly ambitious” billing targets, too much marketing, and a poor work life balance?

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience of quality commercial real estate law, along with existing local authority legal experience (preferable but not essential)’.

The Teams also carry out real estate transactions in the Education Sector and in relation to the Council’s other wide range of activities as required.

A successful candidate will also need to demonstrate skills and abilities in effective team working and handling his/her own caseload (under minimum supervision) with good IT knowledge.

We are the largest local authority in Europe, with both an extensive existing property portfolio and a wide range of ongoing development projects some of which are of national and international significance. The quality and complexity of the work in both teams is equal to that found in larger firms in the private sector, who are often “on the other side”.

The Team has an excellent working relationship with the Council’s in-house property surveyors and other clients, founded upon a “can do” ethos, clear commercial advice and working as an integral part of the wider professional team.

We offer successful candidates a diverse range of quality work and an opportunity to build on existing experience, reasonable internal targets, a good work life balance with flexitime, and other usual local authority benefits including an attractive local government salary related pension.

In line with the current trends, for the time being it is anticipated that there will be substantial home working involved, however, the successful candidate will be required to attend Council offices when required.

You must be a solicitor holding a current Practising Certificate or be a lawyer with demonstrably equivalent skills, abilities and knowledge
