We have also recently published our first digital strategy. To make that strategy into a reality, we need to hire a new digital, data and technology team to join our existing skill set.

As one of a small team of technical architects, you will be taking a lead role in defining the technical architecture a range of digital services and platforms. Working with product teams and with other specialists from within the technology team, you will be jointly responsible for the technical design of the whole council. Your leadership will require you to make recommendations in partnership with across the council with services about the future of their systems, persuading senior stakeholders of your vision.

Your work will extend beyond the council, both in terms of working with other authorities and partners, as well as taking an active interest in emerging technology trends and developments. You'll play a large part in making sure our new and existing systems are seamlessly integrated while being loosely coupled. You'll advise on technology choice, and work with the cyber-security architect to make sure our services and platforms are secure.

You'll have an established career in software development or technical architecture, and you'll be used to working in multidisciplinary team using agile ways of working. You'll be able to guide product, platform and system teams to make good design decisions, translating technical need into plain English. You will be motivated to work on a public service mission, and you may be familiar with working in multidisciplinary teams in agile ways.
