The Principal Local Engineer role is to provide service at principal level to deliver Local Engineering duties as set out.

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • To assist the Local Engineering Managers with the management and the delivery of the Local Engineering core business, local highway improvement projects in line with the City Council’s core policies with a focus on highway related issues and contribute to the overall management of the Highways service.
  • Developing, designing and delivering proposals for traffic management, local highway infrastructure improvements, and annual programmes of works and preparing documentations for approval and implementation.
  • Responding to service requests and enquiries from Elected Members and service users, assisting them in accessing all Highway related services provided by the Highways and Infrastructure service area and the City Council.
  • Management and Monitoring of budgets.

Representing the service at Committee, Ward meetings and other public

Preparing and implementing Traffic Regulation Orders, highway permits, licenses

You will hold relevant civil engineering related qualifications or equivalent professional qualifications and a valid driving licence.
