About Us

At Essex County Council Adult Social Care services, our mission is clear. We want to make the best and most sustainable use of all resources available to the adult, their families, and carers. To ensure they have access to information and tools to enable them to live as healthily and independently as possible, and to exercise choice and control over their lives. And to ensure the safety, dignity, and quality of life for all the adults we work with.

To make sure we achieve our goals, we're transforming our service to be more proactive and to continue building on our strengths-based model. We're very proud of our service and the work we're doing to build long lasting and effective relationships with our partner organisations to maximise community capacity and resilience.

Due to the ambitious and innovative changes Essex County Council are looking to implement across the function, we are looking to recruit resilient leaders into new roles where they will be enabled to achieve long-term strategic goals, whilst influencing day to day operations. Shaping the future of Adult Social Care in Essex.

The Role

Essex County Council are looking for three resilient leaders who can focus on delivering high-quality and safe frontline Adult Social Care services across the county of Essex.

Each role will be dedicated to one of our North, West or South Essex areas.

Our total four Directors will all report to our newly appointed Director of ASC Essex Operations (Deputy DASS).

Join us, and you'll be a leading influence as we explore new ways to collaborate with our partners in the alliances.

We're looking for leaders with a deep understanding of the increasing demands on Essex, including challenging financial environments and changing demography.

Supported by a distributed model with a clear framework, you'll use your skills to form strong, influential relationships and deliver commercially viable, integrated services across health and social care.

You'll undertake your role in accordance with all relevant legislation, keeping services within your locality consistent and of the highest quality.

As a Director, you'll play an active role in the council's corporate management and development, whether you're working closely with the Chief Executive and Leader of the Council, celebrating equality and diversity, or managing relationships between service users and suppliers.

About You

To apply, you'll be educated to degree level or equivalent, with evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in a relevant professional area.

You'll also bring:

  • A deep understanding, gained through significant experience, in developing solutions to deliver value for money services in a relevant service/functional area.
  • Strong project management and commercial experience with evidence of a clear understanding of financial responsibilities.
  • Experience working with stakeholders, supply chains and partners to agree and deliver appropriate commercial structures.
  • Proven ability to focus on results, forging a strong team from diverse backgrounds to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Proven communication skills with an ability to influence both strategically and corporately.
  • Proven track record of using professional expertise to deliver strategic objectives and expected outcomes.
  • Experience of successful delivery within a rapidly changing and ambiguous environment.
  • Experience of creating and proactively leading change initiatives in a complex environment.

What We Offer in Return

We'll help you to develop your career by providing training and support to help you achieve your ambitions. With flexible working options and other lifestyle benefits, we'll also enable you to make the most of your life outside work.
