The Service

At Portsmouth City Council, we are committed to putting our customers at the heart of everything we do and we are looking for a talented digital customer transformation manager to lead the on-going development of internal and external customer elements of the council’s digital transformation work.  

The council’s digital transformation journey is already underway, with increasing numbers of customers using our online customer service channels to engage with us. Having already developed and implemented almost 200 digital processes across the council, we are now seeking someone to continue this journey, and help to develop and implement our future strategy.

Your New Role

You will be responsible for planning and implementing the next phase of digital customer transformation, as well as ever growing and developing the current projects that are laid in place. You will manage key corporate systems such as GovService and M365, whilst developing additional services through these systems. You will be responsible for working throughout the council, liaising and partnering with Marketing and Communications, Customer services, Digital Customer experience team as well as the customer contact centre whilst reporting to the Assistant Director of Corporate Services.

Whilst working across the business you will be expected to manage service needs as well as providing professional advice and guidance around digital customer transactions. You will need to understand business objectives and to propose new objectives to interact with multiple customers basis.

What you’ll need to succeed

You must have a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area; and / or an appropriate professional qualification and proven experience in a senior role. 

Or you will have significant proven experience in leading on digital transformations across large / complex organisations, you will have a sound understanding and experience in managing large complex of data, and its application in a strategic context. You will have experience in managing customer facing IT systems, yet understanding business planning and branding. You will ideally have PRINCE2 or experience with managing complex projects across large organisations. As you may be required to present your findings or ongoing projects, you will have excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
