We are seeking a Head of Governance and Partnerships to join our Senior Leadership Team to help us realise that vision.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will contribute to the strategic leadership of the Council, challenging, shaping and securing the achievement of key priorities and strategies. You will lead and set the overall direction for Performance, Policy and Engagement, Governance and Strategic Partnerships, meeting our statutory obligations, working within regulatory frameworks, and achieving value for money to maximise the effectiveness of the service and the Council as a whole.

Acting as our Head of Democratic Services, you will ensure that the Council’s statutory functions are achieved to a high standard. This will include leading on the development of support and training for our Elected Members, the scrutiny function and supporting effective democratic arrangements for the Council. The lead contact for the Council’s auditors, you will manage the external audit and inspection programme. Your wide-ranging and influential remit will also include acting as a lead within strategic partnerships.

Your professional credibility will be complemented by strong leadership skills together with the ability to lead change and inspire and motivate those around you. A demonstrable record of success within a comparable role is essential as is the ability to share our vision and help deliver change and continuous improvement.
