This is hugely exciting time to join the Council in this new role as the strategic lead for our Highways and Transport service.

The role will be key in taking forward major projects and driving a strategy of continuous improvement within the city. These include a review of the Local Transport Plan, duelling the Outer Ring Road, transforming the frontage to the station and addressing the evolving nature of our historic city centre. 

York is ambitious, we have the first electric park and ride service, one of the first local authorities to have live transport model which will be key to how we manage the cities transport challenges in the future.

It is also a beautiful city in which to live and work and is regularly voted as one of the best places to live, it’s well connected with great schools and a fantastic history – you will be responsible for the famous city walls.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant difference and shape how Highways & Transport is delivered including being able to structure your own team to do this. Crucially, you should be forward thinking be able to lead, inspire and motivate others and through collaborative team working, be capable of achieving organisation success.
