This senior role will take a strategic lead for all commissioning activity for children and young people aged 0-25, including children and young people in the care of Brent Council, care leavers and children with disabilities or special educational needs.
The role will be responsible for shaping a strategic approach to commissioning across the Children and Young People’s Department and the effective commissioning of high quality services that meet strategic priorities and statutory duties within a best value framework.
The role will oversee service transformation and innovative service redesign that is driven by robust data analysis to deliver positive outcomes for children and young people across a range of service areas. The post holder will develop strong partnerships with internal and external partners, including health to progress joint commissioning opportunities. The post holder will lead co-production of commissioned services parents and children and young people and providers to ensure that services are designed to meet identified and emerging needs. Shaping the market to respond to Brent’s priorities is a key part of the role.
The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced commissioner with extensive knowledge and experience of children’s social care, gained in either a local authority or related environment and with a good knowledge of relevant legislative and statutory frameworks.
The ideal candidate will be a self-reflective leader who can motivate a team to continually improve performance. Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with a variety of colleagues and stakeholders and the ability to use creativity in finding solutions to complex issues. Candidates should have a successful track record of improving outcomes and delivering efficiencies. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role.
