About Us:

Putting people at the heart of all that we do.

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is a dynamic and innovative local authority that is passionate about doing the right thing for our residents. We want to see our local communities thrive, so we are committed to delivering exceptional services that will afford them a better quality of life. if you choose to join our Neighbourhood Services team that sits within the Home Ownership department, you will be at the heart of this work as you take ownership of key utility challenges.

The Role:

If you are keen to embrace a fascinating challenge, and you enjoy working with numbers, then this is the perfect role for you. You will undertake a varied role in which you will combine meter readings with the financial elements of accounts payable. We're currently in the process of rolling out smart meters, but until that work is complete, you will personally undertake meter readings in collaboration with the Estate Services Team, forwarding all reads to the suppliers in a timely fashion, and report these statically on a quarterly basis, plus report and organise the replacement of faulty meters. In additional you will challenge invoices and bills that you do not think are accurate, resolve associated queries and orchestrate the timely and accurate processing of utility invoices and bills and follow up on any credits due, and you will be responsible for the associated administrative work.

You will work in partnership with various housing departments and the RBKC Energy Manager to identify energy consumption trends and you will see to it that energy bills are efficiently managed.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

This is a great opportunity to embed yourself in a forward-thinking council, and in the process, you will be exposed to the multitude of opportunities that exist across our departments. To really thrive in our team, you will therefore be a highly numerate, self-motivated individual who is both proactive and organised, with great attention to detail and keen to learn about utilities, finance and billing.

While it would be beneficial if you have financial experience, particularly within an accounts payable role, this isn't essential as long as you bring a can-do attitude and have good communication and influencing skills, and you will be a multitasker who takes great pride in your work. It is also not essential that you have an in-depth working knowledge of the utility markets, however having the ability to understand, read and calculate energy bills is. You will have to be IT literate with good analytical skills.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s will not be considered for this role.
