Job Summary

The Environmental Research Group (ERG), part of the School of Public Health at Imperial College London, is a leading provider of air quality information and research in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to join the ERG in a high-profile role as the Head of the Air Quality Measurement team at a pivotal stage in its expansion. The purpose of this role is to lead in the development and delivery of ERG’s air quality monitoring services, including management of the world-leading London Air Quality Network ( and its new sister community sensor network Breathe London (

The post holder will lead a team of highly experienced air quality analysts, with support from a Deputy Manager and Scientific Projects Manager. They will oversee the delivery of multiple large public sector contracts relating to air quality monitoring, including quality control, site operation, reporting and interpretation. They will collaborate with ERG’s eight research teams to deliver high impact public information services, contribute to leading academic research and provide evidence for policy makers. The post holder must have extensive knowledge in environmental monitoring, experience of large project management and a strong desire to contribute to delivering a healthier environment in the UK and beyond.
