The Greener Futures Strategic Energy Team within the Environment, Transport and Infrastructure (ETI) directorate at Surrey County Council (SCC) is seeking to appoint one full- time and one part-time Principle Energy Engineer.

The full-time position will be 36 hours a week and the role will be fixed-term for 12 months. The part-time role will be 18 hours per week, fixed-term for 12 months. The starting salary for this position is £45,734 per annum based on a 36 hour working week, pro-rata for part time.

About the ETI Directorate

The Environment, Transport & Infrastructure (ETI) directorate is responsible for a wide range of services including climate change, strategic energy, highways, transport, planning, countryside and waste management. These services are critical for people living, working and travelling through Surrey, delivered by the county council or in partnership.

About the Team

The Greener Futures Strategic Energy Team has a crucial role in supporting the commitment of the Council in reducing CO2 emissions in Surrey to net zero by 2050, or sooner. The team works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to set in motion the Council's strategic energy ambitions and to see these through.

About the Role

As a Principal Energy Engineer, you will be working to deliver carbon reduction measures into a range of building projects including new build, refurbishment, maintenance and improvement works of the corporate estate. Furthermore, advising the schools and corporately on good energy management practices, improvements and recommend technical cost-effective solutions to achieve carbon reduction and renewable energy generation.

About you

This is an exciting challenge for a pro-active individual with strong understanding of how to embed carbon reduction measures within schools and the corporate estate. To be shortlisted for an interview for this position, your application and supporting statement will clearly evidence:

  • Experience of working with schools on carbon reduction measures
  • Experience of working on a range building projects
  • Excellent understanding of carbon reduction measures
  • Good relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Good project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
