The role

We are looking for an extremely organised, efficient, resilient and customer focused individual to apply for our Annual Review Support Officer role. This role sits within the SEND team at Camden Council. The successful post holder will need to display good written and oral communication skills, great attention to detail and enjoy working with families and young people from age 0-25.

The main objective for the post holder is to ensure that all annual reviews are processed using Word and database systems, ahead of statutory timescales. You will be compliant to the legislative framework and most importantly work in collaboration with young people and children with SEND and their families. You will enjoy working in highly pressured environments and with a range of professionals and stakeholders – all of whom may have competing demands. Statutory timescales must be met with no loss of quality, or negative impact on collaboration with families, young people and professionals.  Robust data recording is required across a range of data base systems, system folders and excel spreadsheets, to enable robust reporting and monitoring.  You must be able to work at pace, self-monitor and track your workload and identify any potential delays immediately so these can be discussed with your line manager and resolved quickly.  We would welcome applications from those who have experience of working in nursery settings, schools or post 16 education settings, social care or the NHS.

You will support SEND Management to plan and prepare for the Local Authority’s case in response to internal complaints, the Local Government Ombudsman or Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal with regard to decisions made by the Local Authority on assessment/provision/placement.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

To be considered for this post you must be an effective communicator who possesses the ability to interact with people at all levels including Parents, Carers, Young People, Head Teachers, SENDCos, Health and Social Care Practitioners and other professionals as required.  You will work under the direction of the SEN Management team in collaboration with colleagues in the legal department and across all allied services.

This post demands a high level of flexibility, a positive attitude and ability to adapt to changes due to service needs. The post holder will be expected to work in an open plan office environment in which ‘hot-desking’ and agile working practices are implemented and working at home as required or in agreement with the SEN Manager. The post holder may be expected to work at other sites, including in other boroughs and attend annual review meetings.
