At the City of York Council we operate a Category Management approach to Commercial Procurement, and we now have an exciting opportunity to join our Commercial Procurement Team as a Category Officer which will provide an excellent introduction into a procurement career.
About the role;
The role will be providing support to a Category Manager, assisting with larger above threshold procurements and lead tendering exercises for some areas with a lower level of spend. There will be the opportunity to move to different categories in future as workloads allow
Key skills and experience required:
The role will work across a wide area of spend and would suit someone early in their procurement career, with a good base knowledge of procurement and who wants to develop their commercial skills in an exciting and dynamic public procurement environment.
Ideally the successful candidate will have some work experience in a financial environment with the ability to gather, analyse, and present, numerical, budget or other information, in verbal or written form.

This is a career graded post, Grades 5 to 6. Movement across the grades is subject to performance review.
