Nottingham has ambition and our people make us an exciting, vibrant and energetic city. We work at pace and have great achievements that we are immensely proud of.  We are passionate about tackling inequalities in all we do and are committed to delivering inclusive services to our people.

Nottingham is not without its challenges – many of our people face deprivation, but we have a wealth of opportunity in our city and be in no doubt we are ambitious for our people and ambitious for our place.   Following our Non-Statutory Review we are progressing our plans to shape the council Nottingham needs for the future, creating a strong organisation that achieves outcomes.  We are on the cusp of something exciting – a new era for Nottingham.  Our Adult Services work to overcome challenges and for older and disabled citizens, including those with mental health needs, in to live as independently as they can, with a connection to their communities.

Nottingham believes that an independent life is a better life and we are working with our communities and with our partners to find creative ways to achieve outcomes that reduce reliance on formal care and support services. We are looking for a new Head of Service to bring the vision to life – could this be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for?

What we’re looking for…

We are looking for a confident and experienced leader to spearhead our commitment to improving the lives of older and disabled people.  We’re seeking a creative, passionate team player who will work across services and the health & social care system to achieve excellence for our people. Ideally you’ll have a strong background in leading services in a health and social care system.

You will foster a culture that delivers results through continual improvement in response to national and local policy, developing and improving service delivery strategies and approaches for older and disabled people, ensuring your service delivers good and cost-effective outcomes for people.

A detailed knowledge of system working across the health and social care sector including experience at a leadership level and thorough understanding of the government’s agenda for older and disabled people is essential to this role.

What we can give you…

A new era for Nottingham awaits – there is a buzz of excitement about the future for us and although this will be a tough journey it will also be an extremely rewarding one too. As well as the satisfaction of helping change lives across Nottingham, this is a chance to join a well-established leadership team, which the successful candidates will be a key part. We are a leading employer within the region for our employee benefits including a generous annual leave package and the opportunity to purchase more. We will offer you flexible working arrangements and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, as well as support, development and the celebration of shared achievements.

If you can match our ambition for a Nottingham to be a world-class city for everyone, we would like to hear from you.  We strive to have a workforce that reflects our city’s diversity and this is increasingly important in our decision-making senior leadership roles. To help us achieve our ambition, we particularly want to hear from candidates who are from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic communities or candidates that identify with having a disability as we are under-represented at this level.
