About Us:

Give children the Out of Hours support that they deserve

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people at the heart of decision-making. We look at their needs, and provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. Since children can be vulnerable at any time, we run a 24/7 emergency response service. As you might guess, evenings and weekends can be busy – which makes this out of hours Duty Team role all the more professionally challenging, and personally rewarding.

The Role:

Working evenings and two weekends out of four, you’ll protect and help vulnerable children. That could mean completing child protection investigations – including emergency orders and accommodation – and returning missing children to their placements, as well as being the ‘appropriate adult’ present during police interviews.

There’s a good level of autonomy here; with access to purchase cards that let your quickly support families in need. In turn, you can call on a strong network of social workers to. provide emergency assistance too. Not to mention a friendly, supportive close-knit team with a strong reputation for collaboration across the service and with partners like the Police.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

It’s essential that you have a Social Work qualification, SWE registration, enhanced DBS and good regulatory knowledge, in particular the London Child Protection Procedures.

With a solid history in child protection; you’ll be proactive and analytical, and used to quickly building understanding relationships with children and their carers and families. It’s also vitally important you’re comfortable working alone out of hours.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
