The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced insurance professional to lead a busy and friendly Insurance Team providing a customer-focused service across Richmond and Wandsworth Councils.

Reporting to the Head of Fraud, Risk & Insurance and having direct line management for a Deputy and Principal Insurance Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the Councils insurance programme ensuring expeditious and effective claims handling by our contracted insurance providers whilst also liaising with Service Managers across Richmond and Wandsworth Councils in determining insurance needs and in-house mitigation measures as required.

The role encompasses supporting and developing insurance team members and suitable candidates will have excellent organisational and time management skills to meet the expectations of service departments and claimants. You will have a strong insurance background, preferably within a local government organisation, a sound understanding of insurance regulation, case law and principles and how these are applied within a local government setting is essential.
