These are exciting times for the City, and you will play a pivotal role in delivering, maintaining, and improving the highways infrastructure needed to support our ambitious agendas for growth and economic development.

We are looking for someone dynamic, competent, and enthusiastic to be primarily responsible for the input, control, and management of all structures related asset data associated with Highway Structure Bridge Asset Management, and Inspection duties and principles.

You will assist in the execution and input of the cyclical programmed Principal and General Inspections of all Highway Bridges structures; including all aspects of asset inspection data in accordance with the inspection of bridges and other structures, as a key part of the Bridge management process employed by UK bridge owners to ensure that these structures are safe and fit for purpose on the Transport Network. You will also help promote, plan, organise, and supervise the delivery of all aspects of the Structures related Inspection programmes, including assisting in databases management, asset in reporting to help achieve service delivery targets, as well as dealing with Customer and Councillor complaints, and general enquiries. Training will be provided to execute the role.

The Highway Maintenance Service consists of 5 Teams covering the City: - Area Highways Team, Strategic Highways Team, Bridges and Structures Team, Highway Electrical Assets Team and Assets and Contracts team. Each Team is managed by a Team Manager. Within the Transport Service they are at the very forefront of the efforts being made by the City Council and other stakeholders to improve, maintain, and develop the transport service in our City, for the benefit of its Citizens, businesses, and visitors. Key to this is the effective successful delivery of all statutory bridge inspection requirements, as well as being part of the Team that will also provide Technical Approvals for all new development construction work proposals, which will have an impact to the Transport Network.

You should generally have an overall competence and experience in some aspect of business management processes, along with some asset management data handling experience, to enable support to the Bridges and structures Team. Experience of managing, maintaining, and manipulating computerised and/or paper-based data/information systems would also be desirable. The role would also suit a someone who has data management and administration competency, with some relevant experience of Highway asset principles, and who thrives on responsibility, continuous performance improvement, and customer focus.
