We are committed to embedding lessons from the Grenfell tragedy and, having brought our social housing stock back under local authority control, we’ve now embarked on a £257 million capital investment programme.
As part of this programme, we are improving the way we handle maintenance issues, which includes redoubling our commitment to customer care.
Help shape this new in-house function, working with local residents to deliver maintenance and minor capital works across our social housing portfolio.
A key challenge will be managing community expectations and ensuring we deliver on our promises.
You’ll also ensure tenants understand their responsibilities.
As the Senior Surveyor you will work within a team of maintenance surveyors undertaking property maintenance inspections, complex repair diagnosis and management of disrepair cases.
You will provide technical support to the maintenance surveyors and directorates within the housing management teams.
The role will require management of multiple and complex caseloads, to effectively resolve building defects.
Responsible for providing technical specifications of works, reviewing tenders and awarding contractors.
Managing repair work and contractors to achieve performance and budget targets and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Expect to undertake site inspections before and after works, including quality and cost checks, asbestos management surveys, CDM regulation and void specification checks.
You’ll also advise on long-term condition and maintenance strategies.

This role is as much about people as it is about property so, while we’re looking for evidence of technical skills, you’ll also need to be an excellent communicator, able to interact with all sections of the community.
A solid background in housing surveying is essential, ideally with a local authority or social housing provider.
Pragmatic and diplomatic in managing residents’ expectations, you’ll also be capable of negotiating with contractors.
An aptitude for project management is important as your skills can be further developed within the role.
