Are you an experienced strategic planning professional and manager looking for an exciting new challenge to progress the Local Plan for the city of York?

Our current Head of Strategic Planning Policy will soon be going on maternity leave and we are looking for someone with the experience, skills, knowledge and confidence to lead, manage and support the small professional planning policy team, including external consultants, until January 2023.

If you are ready for a new challenge, are an experienced leader with a strong track record of resolving complex planning policy issues and are looking for an interim role, then we would welcome your application and an opportunity to discuss this role further with you.

Our draft Local Plan is in examination. It a high priory of the Council to progress the Plan through to adoption in 2022. You will take day to day management responsibility for progressing the Local Plan and the other planning policy matters relevant to the City of York Council. Working collaboratively to achieve our strategic priorities, plans and objectives will be a key objective for the role.

As the head of the Policy team you will need have the ability to engage and seek to convey your expertise in a way that is persuasive and positive for your team, your peers and key stakeholders.
