Job Details

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

As the Council looks to continue to support our recovery within Brent, it is more important than ever to ensure that every pound invested in our community, contributes to our objectives.

The Post

Brent Council spends approximately £400m per year across its supplier base to support its various activities; from keeping the streets clean, to providing care and support for our most vulnerable to building and creating new affordable housing for residents in the heart of our communities.

Increasing investment in Brent sits at the very heart of our new procurement strategy, and through this, we will seek every opportunity to ensure that local businesses form part of the Council’s supply chain.

The Contract and Supplier Relationship Manager plays a central role in the Brent Procurement team. With responsibility for delivering excellence in supplier relationships and contract management.

Working closely with each of the council’s Departments, the role is pivotal in ensuring that the KPI’s, Outcomes and Social Value Commitments are being delivered in line with the terms of the contract, providing clear auditable reports for senior management on progress on key contracts and all social value commitments.

The role also has responsibility for ensuring the contracts register is accurately maintained, monitoring actual versus contract spend and taking necessary steps to address the situation through a collaborative approach, along with providing regular training and guidance on contract management across the Council.

The role will ensure that the council has a clear understanding on contract performance across our major contracts with the aim of moving to a supplier relationship model with key suppliers.

The Person

We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate the following:-

  • Significant experience of working in large complex organisations
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Evidence of process improvement and development
  • Measurable evidence of improvements in contract and supplier management
  • Innovation and improvement in the delivery of outcomes
  • Training and development of staff
  • Lead negotiations on large / complex or politically sensitive contracts

Closing Date: 17 October 2021 at 23:00
