Are you looking to develop your skills while working for two leading London councils?

After the internal advancement of the previous member of staff, we’re looking for a Principal Financial Control officer to support budget holders in the Resources and Chief Executive’s departments.

Working in the corporate centre, with a focus on the wider Council finances in both boroughs, you will support budget holders to provide effective financial forecasts, advising them appropriately and ensuring they follow financial procedures. You will also work within the wider finance function to ensure integrity to support financial information across the whole organisation.

You will be helping support residents in both Richmond and Wandsworth boroughs, ensuring the services we provide are high quality and deliver good value.

We’re looking to develop and train our staff and want to support our team to develop and grow.

Flexible working is available, and we have been operating largely as a distributed team over the recent time, however some office working is expected in line with service needs.

You’ll be Part qualified CCAB or equivalent, fully qualified AAT or have substantial relevant experience. Ideally, you’d also have experience supporting budget holders with their forecasting.

We recognise the importance of a good balance between work and home life so we do everything we can to accommodate flexible working including, working from home, compressed or part-time hours, term time only, job shares and other arrangements. Please just let us know in your application or at any stage throughout the process (and beyond) if these are options you’d like to explore. We also offer a generous holiday allowance of 39 paid days (pro rata) including bank holidays and a wide range of learning and development opportunities.

In addition, we offer a comprehensive range of staff benefits such as membership of the Local Government pension scheme, childcare vouchers, new technology scheme, interest-free loans on annual travel cards, discounts with many leisure activities, restaurants, shops and other establishments.
