As the Director of Legal and Governance, you will be central to our plans, providing day-to-day support in the running of our local authority, contributing to the delivery of our strategic plans and offering expert advice and guidance, and the highest standards of governance. You will be someone who seeks alternative and innovative ways of doing things, who is not afraid to challenge the norm to support us to be the best that we can be.

We are seeking an experienced lawyer with an understanding of local government gained through the sector, the private practice or the wider public sectors. Creativity and flexibility will be key strengths, as well as the ability to provide sound legal and governance advice, and absolute integrity will be a given. You will have a track record of operating commercially and of identifying opportunities to do things differently; you will be solution focussed and experienced at managing risk and competing interests and expectations in pressurised situations.
