The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

Bradford is currently on a journey of change as we deliver the ambitious outcomes of our Council Plan.  To support us, we are looking for a highly motivated and self-starting Head of Financial Accounting, Capital & Projects who will play a key role in ensuring we remain a well-run Council, using all our resources wisely to deliver priorities. 

The Head of Financial Accounting, Capital & Projects will lead Finance in exercising its control function whilst acting as trusted advisor to.

The role we are seeking to recruit to will head up the Financial Accounting, Capital & Projects Team, and the successful candidate will require strong creative, organisational and technical accounting skills. The successful candidate will play a Lead role in

• Overseeing the year end accounting processes and production of the Statement of Accounts;
• Leading the Special Projects team that provide financial advice and analysis for major projects,
• Overseeing the Capital project appraisal, budgeting, monitoring and reporting processes.
• Overseeing the Collection Fund accounting processes including budget setting
• Overseeing the cash, banking operations, and treasury management functions.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with a strong track record of success in managing relationships, demonstrating resilience and providing excellent financial advice.  Local Government experience, whilst preferential, is not essential.
