It is no exaggeration to state that Belfast is a city transformed and has become one of the most attractive cities in the UK and Ireland. There’s a quality of life here to rival that of any European city making it an ideal place to live, work, visit or study. It is the economic and cultural heart of the region with worldclass universities, thriving creative industries and a world-recognised technology sector particularly in the areas of cyber security and fin-tech. We are seeking a Strategic Director of City and Neighbourhood Services to help us build on this momentum and continue to make Belfast a genuinely world class city by taking the lead on regeneration and place services.
Reporting to the Chief Executive and responsible for the strategic leadership of council’s largest customer facing department that employs over 1400 staff, you will be responsible for the delivery of modern, integrated, high quality and cost-effective front-line services. While efficiencies have been realised through the transformational change programme delivered to date there is more to be achieved. The continued strategic review of service delivery, a drive for improving performance and ensuring operational services are tailored to local needs are key priorities. Through the engagement of local people, service design and delivery will be informed by customer, community and stakeholder needs at a local level.
You will maximise opportunities for collaboration, partnership and joint delivery to drive service improvement and enhance service provision, through the implementation of more innovative and cost-effective solutions. Ultimately, this will lead to the delivery of improved and integrated community-based services and an enhanced customer experience.
With experience of leading the delivery of relevant front-line services to the public in a similarly complex operating environment, you will have operated and influenced at senior management level. Given the extensive remit of this leadership role it is essential that you can demonstrate strategic leadership, a commitment to service excellence and the experience of large-scale change and resource management skills that this exceptional role demands.
