Chelmsford Theatres is undergoing a major transformation in the lead up to its 60th anniversary in September 2022. We’re investing in capital improvements, developing an ambitious programme of co-productions, talent development, outreach, and outdoor events.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Interim Theatres Manager & Programmer to join us and oversee our day-to-day operations. You’ll also have experience in  managing budgets, be an effective and efficient administrator as well as  ensuring policies and procedures are followed. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the development of Chelmsford Theatre, placing our venue at the centre of the city’s recovery from the pandemic.

Most importantly you will be an ambassador for Theatre and the Arts working to support Chelmsford City’s Cultural Services Manager to develop and deliver an exciting, inclusive theatre - working in a multi-disciplinary and highly driven team within an ambitious local authority who are working hard to raise Chelmsford’s cultural profile.

Essential requirements:

• Experience of working within a theatre

• Staff and resource management experience

• A good knowledge of the theatre audiences and the segmentations, as well as commercialisation with potential opportunities to develop new income streams

• The posts will involve lone working, late evening, weekend and bank holiday working as required.

If you are keen to ignite a passion for Chelmsford and want to help us shape its future as a great place to live and work, whilst also enhancing the Theatre’s profile as a visitor destination, then this is your opportunity.

Interviews for the role will be held on 27th to 29th October 2021
