Somerset Independence Plus (SIP) provides services across Somerset to help vulnerable and disabled people to make informed choices so that they can remain independent in their own home. The services on offer range from technical advice, developing specifications and managing disabled adaptations, to minor, extensive and critical repairs to property fabric. There is also the work of the Independent Living Officers who provide people focused services from home safety checks, and benefit advice to more complex mental health cases.

We are seeking two Community Retrofit Project Officers to assist with developing a new energy retrofitting service for homeowners. The roles will be responsible for developing a Retrofit offering to owner occupiers and private landlords. Providing a one stop shop from enquiry, through to the survey by a Retrofit Coordinator, contract management to completion. The roles will work alongside local colleges and LEPS/Chamber of Commerce to support local SME’s to develop retrofit skills and obtain PAS 2035 requirements. Working with the Local Authorities, identify and develop funding opportunities, utilising heat map and local data for bids, monitoring impact, both in terms of the carbon reduction (In line with LA Climate Strategies) and the ongoing influence that SIP interventions have on the health of individuals and the community through the health impact assessment work with the Somerset Health and Well Being Board.

You will be working in a large multidisciplinary team, working predominately from home, but in the future could also work from time to time in one or more of our office locations across Somerset

If you want to be part of our growth and success, we need you to:

  • Be a team player, prepared to play a full part in our service improvement.
  • Be committed to delivering a high quality and customer focused service to our customers and partners.
  • Play your part in the wider contribution Somerset Independence Plus can make to our partners

In return for this we will provide you with the opportunity to study a project management or retrofit qualification, and the chance to develop an energy service which could lead to a permanent role. We are particularly interested to hear from you if you are interested in a secondment opportunity.
