The Role

We have a unique opportunity to work as a High Streets and Local Growth Officer for Richmond and Wandsworth Council based in Richmond. The post involves working with other internal teams, town centre stakeholders and investors to develop, manage and co-ordinate initiatives and interventions which support the sustainable growth and vitality of Richmond town and local centres. This role will appeal to individuals who would like to make an impact on the economic development and growth of Richmond boroughs local high streets and town centres.

You will be required to:

  • Support the Head of High Streets and Local Growth and the Local Growth Manager (High Streets) and develop/deliver initiatives and projects as required.
    Provide focused support for High Streets, developing projects / managing projects.
  • Engage with stakeholders and businesses in different town and local centres to identify challenges and opportunities and to devise responses and solutions.
  • Develop a co-ordinated approach to local growth and place-making for different town- and local centres.
  • Organise and managing events and promotions.

You will need to be:

  • Motivated able to work proactively enjoy new challenges and a versatile workload.
  • Have strong people skills and project management experience. 
  • You will be able to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Able to prioritize your own work within a supportive framework.

As a Local Growth Officer, you will be focusing on the borough of Richmond, with the expectation of working across boroughs if required. On occasions the requirement to work evenings and weekend may arise. As the High Streets and Local Growth Officer the position will entail working mostly in the town centres or Richmond office, although occasional home working is possible.

We are looking for a motivated individual’s with transferable skill sets including the ability to innovate, engage with stakeholders/businesses, project management, customer service and the ability to demonstrate successful project deliverables. We recognise the required skill set for the Local Growth Officer may arise from varied backgrounds. We encourage you to apply if you have the required skills specified in the job profile and do not need previous local authority experience within a similar role.
