About Haringey

Haringey is a diverse, vibrant and exciting place to live and work with much to offer those who make it their home. As with any other borough, it also has challenges, not least the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on employment and income for our residents – with evidence suggesting young people, women, black, asian and minority ethnic groups, the self-employed and people with disabilities will have experienced a greater degree of adversity in relation to the labour market since the inception of the pandemic.

About the Role

The Employment & Skills Manager role is designed to maximise the impact of Haringey’s Good Economy Employment and Skills Recovery Action Plan which sets out our ambition to develop a coordinated employment and skills response where all residents are given access to training and skills development opportunities and supported into Good Work. The postholder will:

  • Lead on policy and programme development and delivery setting a strategic framework that ensures the best employment and skills outcomes for Haringey residents.
  • Lead on collaboration both within Haringey Council and with external stakeholders such as skills providers, employment provider base and specialist providers within the Voluntary and Community Sector.
  • Have operational responsibility for driving exceptional performance from commissioned employment programmes operating in the borough.

About You

This is a senior role, reporting directly to the Head of Service and with exposure to elected local politicians. The successful candidate will have experience and be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Creativity, intelligence, and a passion for improving lives through Good Work.
  • Experience of programme delivery and contract management.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, and understanding of the employment and skills policy landscape or can bring transferable knowledge from another policy area.
  • Brings a proven track record in building strong stakeholder relationships and a flair for partnership working towards shared outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills – able to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

If the above excites you, and you share our ambition to support residents into Good Work then please click the apply button.
