The Smart Transport Team at the City of York Council are looking for an Apprentice Civil Engineering Technician like you. Candidates should have at least 5 GCSEs at Grades 9-4 (A*-C) including Maths (Grade 6/B), English and Science or their equivalent.

This opportunity is primarily based out of our West Offices in the heart of York.
What You’ll Be Doing:
By joining the Smart Transport Team you will be involved with our innovative Smart Transport Programme. From day one you'll work alongside a dedicated team, supporting the creation of new tangible schemes within the ever-changing field of smart technology. Your responsibilities will include a range of tasks, which will vary, however will involve:
- Contributing to the design of new Highway schemes, such as traffic signal junctions and other transport technology projects.
- Undertaking risk assessments and other safety related engineering activities.
- Surveying sites to gather information and contribute to new schemes.
- Writing reports and other documents to help move schemes through the full lifecycle from inception to completion.
- Contribute to consultation exercises to collect and incorporate feedback from a variety of different stakeholders.
