About us

Camden is building somewhere everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit. Because, we’re not just home to the UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. We are seeking an individual who possess exceptional organisational skills, passion and diligent to join our multi-disciplinary team as Homeless Family Move-On Adviser. The post holder will support and mentor homeless families living in temporary accommodation.

The Role

The Housing Needs Group works in close partnership with the Temporary Accommodation Group in Housing Support Services to prevent and relieve people from being homeless. We recognise the detrimental impacts that living in temporary accommodation has on families, no matter how well managed, especially children. Since early 2013 we have reduced the number of households living in temporary accommodation by around one quarter and we are committed to further reduction going forward.

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, highly organised and diligent Homeless Family Move-On Adviser to join our multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will support and mentor homeless families living in temporary accommodation so they can successfully move into settled accommodation and become resilient to future homelessness. This is achieved by providing the highest standard of advice about housing options, in accordance with the homelessness strategy and housing allocations scheme, signposting into support services and coordinating the professional network.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

To be considered for this post it is essential that you have experience of working with families who have multiple support needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting vulnerable families. You will enjoy providing advice and guidance to help families set and reach goals to achieve the best possible outcome, including, but not limited to housing, education and employment. You will be an assertive communicator, able to have difficult conversations with families, in a compassionate manner, providing clear advice and guidance both verbally and in writing.

The successful candidate will be committed to working within a multi-disciplinary partnership environment. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of data protection legislation and information sharing protocols and related legislation, social services and welfare benefit legislation.
