Job Details

Public sector accounts for a significant section of the UK workforce – a huge 5.4 million employees strong, little wonder HR professionals are attracted to the strength, complexity and rewarding career in this great sector, even more so given the COVID pandemic as we quite literally save lives. The goal is to provide a service to all and, as the name suggests, act in the public interest. In an environment which is driven by quality of service rather than profit; our residents, communities and visitors are the benefactors of the impact we deliver.

The HR service is constantly adapting; implementing changes driven from new legislation, market forces and  customer requirements. Our teams understand, deliver and embed these changes accurately with strong quality assurance and governance and drive outcome focussed approaches, creating the platform to enable success. Our work is complex and interesting including organisation redesign, driving business performance through workforce development, supporting managers with their staff leadership approaches and interventions particularly when they face the complexities of performance, attendance and resolving conflict. Challenging and supporting in equal measure, enabling people to thrive..

New opportunities……It is an exciting time to join us!

The 8 District, Borough & County Council’s in North Yorkshire are coming together in April 2023 to form a new organisation, one unified council. The single council will provide the resilience, scale and financial sustainability to deliver outstanding services, tackle the challenges facing the whole county after the ravages of the Covid-19 pandemic, take advantage of future opportunities and provide secure, varied and interesting career prospects for our staff.

The County of North Yorkshire is the largest County in England and Wales. Within the county are 598 square miles of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and 530 square miles of the North York Moors National Park. The county is included in the Yorkshire and Humberside Region.

Whilst the economy of the County has traditionally been dependent on agriculture and tourism, there is a fast growing high technology base and this, together with other forms of light manufacturing industry, is of increasing importance. The County Council has an active policy of economic development and the predominantly rural character of the County is highly attractive to high technology businesses as well as the traditional industries of farming, food production and tourism. The County contains several centres of great historic interest, market towns that invite light industrial development, the modern coalfield area in the South, scenic, lightly populated upland areas and the extensive lowland area in the Vale of York.
