Are you an experienced strategic planning professional and manager looking for an exciting new challenge?

We are looking for an experienced leader with a strong track record of strategic planning policy to lead, manage and support the professional planning support team, inlcuding external consultants, on a temporary basis until January 2023.

You will take day-to-day management of planning policy matters and seek to evidence and resolve complex issues arising. As the head of the Policy team you will need have the ability to engage and seek to convey your expertise in a way that is persuasive and positive for your team, your peers and key stakeholders. Working collaboratively to achieve our strategic priorities, plans and objectives will be a key objective for the role.

Currently the team are progressing a varied work programme including a new Local Plan through examination, which is supported by a dedicated programme manager, the production of supplementary planning documents, neighbourhood plans and a Joint Minerals and waste plan with neighbouring authorities.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to enhance their career portfolio and be part of growing the city’s plan to promote spatial development and to protect the quality of York's unique historic, natural and built environment.
